Submission process step by step

  1. Access the Submission Portal:
    Go to the NJMS website and select the ‘Make a Submission’ tab.
  2. Review the Checklist:
    Read the checklist thoroughly and ensure all requirements are met.
  3. Log In or Register:
    • For first-time users, click ‘Register.’
    • If you already have an account, click ‘Login.’
  4. Complete Registration:
    • After clicking ‘Register,’ fill in the required details on the registration form.
    • Select ‘Yes, request the reviewer role’ at the bottom of the registration page.
    • Submit the form by clicking ‘Register.’
  5. Begin a New Submission:
    On the next page, click the ‘Make a New Submission’ button to proceed.
  6. Navigate the Submission Tabs:
    A new page will display five tabs:
    1. Start
    2. Upload Submission
    3. Enter Metadata
    4. Confirmation
    5. Next Steps
      Begin with the ‘Start’ tab.
  7. Complete the Start Tab:
    • Choose the relevant option from the ‘Section’ dropdown.
    • Confirm that all submission requirements are met by ticking the checkboxes.
      Note: If any requirement is not fulfilled, ticking its checkbox will still allow you to proceed, but your submission will be automatically declined.
    • Add comments for the editor if desired (optional).
    • Acknowledge the copyright statement by selecting both checkboxes.
    • Click ‘Save and Continue.’
  8. Upload Required Files:
    • In the ‘Upload Submission’ tab, use the dialogue box to upload the necessary files, including:
      • Article text
      • Title page
      • ERC/IRB approval letter
      • Undertaking
    • Click ‘Save and Continue.’
  9. Provide Metadata:
    • Title: Enter the full title of the article.
    • Subtitle: Add a short or running title (optional).
    • Abstract: Copy and paste the abstract into the designated field.
    • Contributors:
      • Click ‘Add Contributor’ for each author.
      • Fill in their details, including affiliation and role (select ‘Author’).
      • Mark the corresponding author by ticking the ‘Principal contact for editorial correspondence’ checkbox.
      • Add all contributors in the correct sequence.
    • Complete the ‘Languages,’ ‘Subjects,’ ‘Discipline,’ and ‘Keywords’ sections. Add keywords one at a time instead of pasting them together.
    • Click ‘Save and Continue.’
  10. Confirm Submission:
    • In the ‘Confirmation’ tab, click ‘Finish Submission.’
    • Your submission is now complete.
  11. Track Your Submission:
    • Log in to your account at any time to monitor the status of your article during the editorial process.
